How to Make Wax Whipped Cream

25/02/2024
You’ve probably seen those mouthwatering candles that look good enough to eat! The perfect technique for giving your candles a delectable appearance is, of course, the famous wax whipped cream.
In addition to the essential equipment for making candles, you’ll also need a whisk, a piping bag, and your choice of piping tips.
Here are our tips!
Choosing the Wax
Selecting the right wax is crucial for creating whipped cream. Ideally, choose a wax with a low melting point, such as soy wax for container candles or sunflower wax for container candles.
To make 200g of whipped cream, start by weighing 130g of wax, for example, soy wax for container candles, and melt it in a double boiler until it reaches approximately 80°C (176°F).
When the Wax Is Melted
Add 70g of cold soy wax (in flakes, not melted). This will help your wax cool down more quickly and achieve the ideal texture for whipping into cream.
Choosing the Fragrance
It’s time to add the fragrance you’ve chosen to scent your wax whipped cream.
Now, vigorously whisk your scented wax.
Achieving the Texture
To achieve the right whipped cream texture, we recommend taking short breaks during which you let the wax rest, then return to whisking.
Repeat this process until you achieve the desired texture. You’ll see your wax start to rise and whiten, gaining volume and becoming more airy. The better the texture of your wax, the more successful the whipped cream effect will be!
To Finish
And finally, the most delightful moment of this recipe… piping the whipped cream! You can add your wax whipped cream on top of a poured candle base or create a complete whipped cream candle – it’s up to you!
Put your wax into your piping bag and pipe away!
Tips
If you opt for an all-whipped cream candle, you can secure your wick with a small dab of wax whipped cream in the center of your container.
Adjust the pressure on the piping bag to achieve a thicker or thinner whipped cream, wider or narrower.
You can create different whipped cream patterns, here are some examples:
In circles, swirling around the wick
In small touches, peaks on the top of the candle
In the center, then recenter the wick
Happy crafting!
