What Is Beeswax?

This beeswax starts off as white but gradually takes on a yellow or brown hue due to its contact with pollen and honey.

Beeswax is rich in fatty acids, making it highly nourishing and suitable for all skin types, especially for those with dry skin. Its high fatty acid content also makes it an ideal ally against winter cold, particularly for hands and lips.

Beeswax is also highly valued for crafting candles, either on its own or as an additive alongside other waxes.

Not sure what to do with your beeswax? Here are three recipe ideas using beeswax for you to try and adapt at home according to your preferences:

25% vegetable oil (such as almond, shea butter, jojoba, etc.)
50% coconut oil
25% beeswax
Melt the beeswax and coconut oil together in a double boiler, then remove from heat and add your choice of vegetable oil. Mix until you achieve a homogeneous mixture, pour it into a container, and let it cool.

45% shea butter
25% beeswax
20% sweet almond oil
10% fragrance oil (make sure to follow safety guidelines for the chosen fragrance)
Melt shea butter and beeswax together in a double boiler. Then, add sweet almond oil to your mixture and stir until you achieve a smooth blend. Remove from heat, add the fragrance oil, and mix again until you have a uniform preparation. Pour the mixture into a container and let it set in the fridge for approximately 24 hours.
